Transportation

From the airport
Metro (Subway-underground) metro is the easiest way to arrive at CSIC from Barajas International Airport. All Terminals are connected by Line 8 (pink line) , which ends at Nuevos Ministerios station, about 10 min. walk from the CSIC.

There are also buses coming from the airport, which arrive at María de Molina station, about 15 min. walk from the CSIC.

Taxis are also available.

Within Madrid
There are several bus bus lines that stop by CSIC:
Bus 16: Moncloa - Avenida de Pío XII
Bus 19: Plaza de Cataluña - Plaza de Legazpi
Bus 51: Puerta del Sol - Plaza del Perú
Bus N1 (night service): Plaza de la Cibeles - Colonia Virgen del Corgijo

NOTICE
Serrano is a one way street going from Plaza de la República Argentina to the crossing with María de Molina. This is why bus lines 16, 19, 51 and N1 circulate on Serrano St. only when they are coming form the North (Pío XII, Plaza de Cataluña and Plaza del Perú). For arrivals from the opposite direction (Moncloa, Legazpi and Puerta del Sol), they circulate on Velázquez St., parallel to Serrano. The closest stop to the CSIC is at the crossing between Velázquez and López de Hoyos.
There are other bus lines which have stops in nearby areas such as Plaza de la República Argentina (Circle line) or Paseo de la Castellana (lines 27 and 45, among others).
To obtain more information on exact location of bus stops, schedules, rates and bus lines, please look in the website of Madrid City Transports (Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid).

The closest subway station to the CSIC is República de Argentina (Juan de la Cierva exit). From there, you can access the CSIC following the directions in the map above.
Subway line 6 (Circle line) has a stop at República de Argentina. Another option is Nuevos Ministerios station: lines 6, 8 (Nuevos Ministerios - Barajas Airport) and 10 (Hospital del Norte - Puerta del Sol). Line 10 has direct access to Chamartín station and the city center. If you arrive at Nuevos Ministerios on either one of these two lines, it's not necessary to transfer to line 6 to República Argentina as the CSIC is vey close.
